A wonderful gold mourning ring from the late Georgian (ca1813) era! This lovelyring is made of 14kt gold and has a carved split shank that carries along each shoulder of the beveled band. At the center of the ring is aglass locket window, behind which a small lock of hairwould have originally been stored. The reverse side of this locket is engraved with "Catherine Gray Ob. 30 July, 1813 at 73".Surrounding the closed-back centerpiece is a delicate border of natural seed pearls, which are greenish-white in color with a soft luster. An untouched patina rests within the grooves of the textured setting, providing further depth and dimension to the design. This stunning Georgian ring is anoutstanding example of the mourningjewelry tradition, andwould make a wonderful addition to any antique collection!

Measurements: The ring has a finger size 7.75, butcould possibly be resized slightly. The face of the ring measuresapproximately 5/8" long and 1/2" tall.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear and an old repair to one of the shoulders, there is noapparent damage to the gold setting. All of the natural pearls are securely set, and the glass window is intact.
